Call for participants: PGR research posters

As many of you will have seen, we are looking ahead to our first conference - Race and the Early Modern - taking place at King's College London, 24 May 2022. As part of the day's events, we are inviting all interested PGR/doctoral students and participants the opportunity to design and display 'research posters' around relevant doctoral projects. These will be displayed in the conference venue, giving audience members the chance to learn more about your research, and hopefully providing networking opportunities to connect those with relevant interests. We will produce (i.e. print) the posters ourselves, and mount them for you - (our project will bear any associated cost).

What is a research poster? Put simply, a poster communicates the main elements of your research in an easy-to-digest visual format. There are no hard and fast rules for this. Some introductory guidelines can be found here and here, and you can see some examples via links on this page. But we invite you to be as personal, individual and experimental as you like - our only strict recommendation is that you include your name, the title of your PhD and your contact details somewhere easily visible! We will designate a specific coffee break for taking questions on the poster, but other than that it would be useful for anyone interested to be able to take your contact details.

Please note that this is not a requirement of attending the conference! Similarly, if you would like your poster displayed, but cannot attend in person, please do still get in touch - we may be able to accommodate this. One of our chief aims with this conference is community-building, so we are looking for ways to include and feature as many researchers and as much new work as possible. If you would like to participate do let us know now by emailing mmor@kcl.ac.uk - we will ask you to send us a PDF file by 17th May. And if you have feedback, comments or suggestions, we would be glad to hear them.
